About Us
Since 1979, we have specialized in transforming IDEAS into models
- After starting out in model making, our founder and managing director Thomas Schäfer ventured into self-employment in 1996 and founded the company Albtec Prototypen in Hechingen. Albtec was then home to one of the first 3D printing systems in Germany, the so-called stereolithography process.
- By using the new 3D printing technology at the time and implementing customer requests quickly and competently, Mr. Schäfer managed to build up a large customer base throughout Germany in a short space of time. Albtec quickly grew to become one of the most sought-after 3D printing and prototyping service providers in Germany.
- In 1999, we supported Mika Häkkinen in his Formula 1 world championship with 3D-printed components. To this day, we are still a strong partner of various racing teams.
- In 2007, we moved to a new, larger production facility in Hechingen for the first time.
- Over the years, we have developed a steadily growing customer base from a wide range of industries. In addition to racing and the automotive industry, we also serve the medical technology, mechanical engineering, electronics and many other sectors.
- When his wife Beatrix, son Raphael and daughter Miriam joined the company, Albtec became a classic family business.
- The second move was due in 2020. Albtec moved from Hechingen to Burladingen, not far away in the heart of the Swabian Alb. The new modern industrial hall offers sufficient space for the future.
- Raphael and Miriam Schäfer have also been Managing Directors of Albtec since 2022.
